Brandon Henson – April 17

Originally, from Gowrie, Iowa, where he grew up on a big cattle farm between Des Moines and Omaha. After graduating High School, went and played football at Arkansas State, Graduated in December 2006 with a Business Administration Degree. Two weeks after graduating from College, he went and attended professional Umpire School in Daytona Beach, FL. With needing to be in the top 20, out of 300 in his class to get an opportunity for rookie ball, Brandon finished #11. From there he spent over 9 years in the Minor Leagues, from rookie baseball to Major League Spring Training. He also umpired in the Venezuela Winter League in 2013 and 2014.

When he was not offered a job full time by Major League Baseball, Brandon went and did something very few civilians ever think of, joined the Air Force and went to Basic Training at 33 years old. From there, he was interviewed and selected, out of a 1,000 applicants , along with 9 others that summer, selected to be apart of the Presidential Honor Guard, stationed in Washington DC. This duty was made up between time spent at The White House, The Tomb of the Unknown, and over 1,100 military funerals at Arlington National Cemetery. After doing his 5 years and not wanting to move overseas, Brandon finished his contract and moved to South Florida in the fall of 2022. He now works as a Contractor dealing with Water Infrastructure. Also, he is a Team Leader and Instructor at the Wounded Warrior Umpire Academy held every June for 12 days in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
